Our Community

Community is everything here at ATG.   Check out our community of bakers, chefs, schools, restaurants and businesses who work with our grains.  Whether they stock our grains on their shelves, share them in their CSA's or offer our grains as part of their menu - these are our people.  Want to be part of the movement?  Just drop us a line!

ATG is proud to work with a growing group of awesome folks..

Grain Shares

We believe that collaboration is the key to a locally driven food system. By partnering with other farmers in the Ottawa region through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) concept we are able to consistently bring you the goodness of fresh, local grain alongside your veggie box every week!

A grain share from Against the Grain Farms allows CSA customers to sample a variety of specialty whole grains and flours grown from ancient grain varieties on our farm. Each week your grain share will be unique, showcasing one of our many grain varieties. A CSA share will include our grains in the form of flour, whole grain, specialty baking mix, or tortilla chips accompanied by a user friendly recipe, and often a locally produced jam, chutney or additive pairing.

Through our grain share we aim to:

-Provide CSA members with a seasonal supply of healthy, non- GMO grains and flour, that are not only better for your health than many main stream grain options, but come from a long history of cultivation and tradition.

-Provide CSA members with an alternative food systems approach to grain consumption and help support and inspire members to get creative with their cooking, baking, and food pairings.

-Foster the growth of local food networks by supplying locally produced grain as well as other local producers' products that specifically compliment our grains.

Good Grains for All

As we anticipate this Christmas season, our hearts are full with gratitude. Our lives depend upon the gifts of land, water and air. And, we have been blessed with an abundant harvest.

We have an opportunity to share this amazing gift of abundance with those who may need it. We have partnered with The Table (Community Food Centre) and with your help, we will be providing them with our local, ecologically produced heritage grains.

The Table is more than just a food bank. They offer integrated programs that make nutritious, healthy food more accessible to all. The Table's mission is to foster a community that collaborates and empowers each other to improve access to healthy food, improve food skills, advocate for individual well-being and for social policies to address food insecurity and poverty. They offer community meals 3 times a week and host cooking classes, gardening sessions and social justice courses too!

To find out more about their work visit: www.thetablecfc.org.

If you would like to help us provide The Table with healthy & local grain products, consider making a donation today. Your contribution will buy barley berries, barley flour and corn meal for programs and meal at The Table.

Donations can be directed to the Good Grains for All Fund by donating online or by cheque to The Table with a note on the memo line.

A $25 donation will provide 100 servings of local barley at a community meal and support the agricultural economy of eastern Ontario.
